Looking for a Five Ten Access replacement: comparison and first impressions

I bought the Five Ten Trailcross LT Mountain Bike Shoe hoping to replace the Five Ten Access as a running shoe after noticing the similarly sloping midsole shape. the sole eventually separates from the midsole. As I write this review, I'm hoping to share some feedback with those who want something similar to the Five Ten Access, and perhaps everyone at Adidas who needs feedback. As suggested by other reviews, I purchased a Five Ten Trailcross LT mountain bike. Shoes are half a size too small for a proper fit. I have a wide foot (not sure if I'm an E or EE) and while some reviews say the width is narrow, I took a chance and think it might be reasonable/acceptable at the moment. After hiking I feel like they are narrower and would have preferred a slightly roomier fit. As with the Five Ten Access, the black rubber outsole is very sticky and offers good stability and traction. Shoes are a bit stiff (desirable for mountain biking, less so for approach) which causes some strain and calf muscle fatigue when climbing. The toe box is hard rubber and is a bit limited but acceptable. Heel depth feels flat on steep climbs but won't blister. I found the laces to be a little flimsy and replaced them with Orthostep 48" flat laces, which I feel are as close as possible to the original Five Ten Access. Laces that are more important for support. The Five Ten Access is a complex process - I wore the Five Ten Access for as long as they were available and bought every pair I could find in my size after they were bought back by Adidas and discontinued. , use them mainly as a fit shoe for hiking Stone Mountain in Atlanta. The Five Ten Access is a half size larger than my normal size and my foot goes deep enough in the shoe that the heel is covered very well, especially when climbing with steep Grip and stability are excellent and precise to prevent ankle slippage, the toe box and overall width is wide yet snug with the laces and the mesh and leather are extremely durable. The only issue is how sticky the black ones are The sole came off after about six months, but I found a cobbler who could put it back on and I continued to wear the Access as a casual shoe, albeit with a worn grip. Ultimately, I prefer the mesh version over the leather version, plus it's amazingly durable and never rips. I was very disappointed to see the Access being discontinued and since then nothing Adidas has offered has come close. I have tried other approach shoes only to encounter width, grip and stability issues. The Five Ten Access gave you maximum confidence, traction, comfort and support when climbing and descending the steepest slopes, as well as when jumping or leaping over chasms. Conclusion: The Five Ten Trailcross LT mountain bike shoe is as close to the Five Ten Access as I am. I found. However, I would like to see a sneaker option or just return Access.

Pros
  • The shoes are lightweight, breathable, easy to clean and feel durable. I don't regret my purchase.
Cons
  • Bad flexibility
