Thread does not conform to NPT specification
If you like a challenge, try to stop the water leak. It took almost every old-school plumber I could find to fix it, topped off with plenty of elbow grease and multiply that by 3 for each fitting installed. Just forget tape or liquid thread sealant, you'll need to use both and a few other tricks. In short, you get what you pay for!
