It looks great in the new wall we installed where we tore out the huge oversized wood burning fireplace. It's also pretty easy to install. The main difficulty we had was removing the front glass (this needs to be done to remove and install the foam gasket). It turned out that the problem was caused by the metal tab inside being slightly bent, preventing the glass front panel from lifting properly. The instructions aren't clear either, as you have to slide the glass panel up and then out. Loosening the screws (the instructions are also vague on which screws to remove - they're silver on the sides) and trying to lift the panel doesn't work - slide it to the top of the fireplace and then out. I ran. Since a 1500 watt heater draws 12.5 amps, there isn't much left for anything else in a 15 amp circuit. I have a cord but don't use it if you mount the fireplace in a wall, no electrical code I'm aware of allows a plug in a wall or other inaccessible place. It's easy to remove the cable and connect the wiring directly to the chimney, it's just 3 self-tapping screws and 3 wire nuts. And this is how it fits the code. The flame looks good. Not quite realistic, but very nice. You can change the color of the flame from orange to blue to orange and blue. I personally think choosing a yellow flame will help, but that's a personal matter. Instead of crystals, we're using split logs on the base - they come with both. I've seen a few reviews where people have used both and maybe we'll try that later, but the logs look ok. You can also change the intensity/brightness of the flame. The remote control is nice and you can also do everything from the front. Turn the heater on/off, set the timer, temperature, flame brightness, color, etc. I'm not a fan of the beep that comes out every time you adjust something, but there's only one beep. never mind The measurements in the description are accurate as I adjusted the rough hole to fit those measurements and it fitted perfectly - just "a little" too big but it gave me the opportunity to adjust to make sure it lined up and was centered. Overall this is a great electric fireplace. Cheaper than others I've seen and can be built into the wall for a nice clean look (which is what I wanted). The heat exits at the top and has two settings. The bottom line is that you could spend a lot more on another flush mount electric fireplace, but I wouldn't.
