Review on ๐Ÿšš Apex RBG-01 38-inch Large Soft-Side Vehicle Cargo Rack Bag - 15 Cubic Feet by Khiam Burton

Great item with two exceptions

Let me start by saying that I did a lot of research on roof bags and finally settled on this one. The main purpose of this bag for me is to attach it to a bed frame I made for my pickup truck. It will store my gear when I'm on 4 wheels and hiking. Requirements I need: It needs to be 38" x 38" and sit under the roofline of my cabin to eliminate drag. Check. It absolutely needs to be 100% weatherproof and waterproof as it will contain my tent, clothes, sleeping bags etc. Essential gear that needs to stay dry. Check. Here's a crap. Lightning is so cheap. Everything else about this product is of pretty good quality considering the price, but when I took it out of my bag and looked closely, I found that the zippers were the cheapest one could use. zipper when they should have been closed). Good thing there are two zippers that I was able to close to the last 1/2 inch or so. covers two sides of the square. Basically, the zipper can only be opened at one corner, which makes loading and unloading the equipment unnecessarily cumbersome (unpacking). I realize I'm trying to minimize the number of zippers to make it lighter weatherproof/waterproof, but that's really a bit annoying when loading/unloading. But it's not that bad. I've read reviews of many products to see how waterproof/weatherproof the bags are and I know you have to take everything with a pinch of salt because I don't know if the reviewers are exaggerating or not. But here, I promise you, that's not an exaggeration: I've just been 4 wheeling and camping for two days and one night. Yesterday it rained at times for about 2 hours. Just normal rain. Inside everything was fine and dry. Today when leaving the trail (slow crawling on the rocks for 4 hours), it rained quite heavily at times. Then I turned off the path and went down the mountains, and when I got to town it was pouring rain. Horizontal protective rain. could not see the sight of rain 10 feet ahead. I was dying to go home and into the workshop to see how all the gear held up. If it was soaked at that point, it didn't matter except that it dried up. There wasn't a drop of water in the cargo hold. Everything was dry. So now I have a dilemma. I have to send it back and get a new one as I know the zippers are totally useless and will most likely break again in the near future. Or should I take this to a guy in town who's known for fixing and upgrading mountain gear? Because I really like this bag and if I can fix the zipper situation it will easily get 4.5 stars. The flap covering the zip is more than enough to keep the weather out. Simplicity, no frills, and unnecessary/overdone design components that usually backfire. Price. Cons: Incredibly cheap and almost useless zipper is a bit awkward when loading and unloading gear.
