Review on Adjustable Rechargeable Detachable Magnetic Mountain by Mark Allen

Good helmet with questionable quality control standards

I recently started road cycling and needed a helmet. I chose this helmet for its design and features. The helmet comes with a carry bag, sun visor and two top vents to change the ventilation properties of the helmet. What I really liked are the magnetic attachments for the top panels and sun visor. The magnets are strong and the helmet has cut outs that take parts to hold them in place. The sun visor not only protects against the sun, but also protects the eyes from the wind. I only wish they had a clear sight for use in low light conditions. The top panels can be completely removed for maximum airflow. While the two color options for the inserts were black and white, each has a grungy texture that should allow you to paint them any color of your choosing! One day I plan to paint the white part in a different color. While it didn't make me buy it, the rear-facing red LED is a nice touch. It can be easily charged with a micro USB cable. The LED will turn on and off while charging. It stays solid after fully charged. It's easy to use as a short press toggles between different lighting patterns and a long press turns it off. The helmet itself is very light and very different from the clunky helmet my parents bought me as a kid three decades ago. After adjusting the chin strap, you can decrease the tension by adjusting the dial on the back of the helmet. This allows the comfort of the helmet to be fine-tuned. I would have given this helmet more stars if I hadn't noticed a small imperfection on the inside of the helmet. As you can see in the photo the strap has clearly come loose from the helmet but has been re-taped. A "QC Pass" sticker was affixed to the inside of the helmet, suggesting that either the manufacturer decided to ship the helmet anyway, or that it was completely ignored. I chose to keep the helmet as I immediately wanted to ride my new bike and it doesn't seem like there was any stress on the damaged area when tightening the strap. In the end I still like it a lot. Helmet. I plan on keeping it for a season or two before switching to another. I just wish mine wasn't the one that had the damage repaired at the factory.

Pros
  • Good ventilation
Cons
  • High price
