I thought. I'm an amazing DIY guy, these reviews must be the people who messed things up. That won't happen to me. So I followed the installation instructions, timed the valve's installation depth perfectly, and ended up with a horrible looking installation and a protruding handle. However, this is fixable if you want to double the work. So the first major drawback of this product is that it has to have an internal collar that closes the assembly if the handle sticks out too far from the plate. Moen makes one, but it's matte metal, not chrome, and is NOT included. The second disadvantage is that you have to adjust the valve about 1/4" to 3/8" lower for a proper flush mount. Your final tile surface. Do not install the valve (black plastic guide) so that it is flush with the tile or handle as indicated. This causes it to stick out with a gaping hole that allows water to seep into your control wall. As far as ease of installation goes, it's very basic if you agree it doesn't look great. But to make it look good, you have to put in extra effort. For me, it's cutting out an access panel in the wall behind our shower. Lay everything on the back of the block that the valve is attached to. Then carefully cut out the nails holding the lock in place. Then pull back on the latch to set it at the desired depth and screw into place. Luckily there was enough headwind. in the pipes. Then replace the access panel, touch up the drywall, and retexture the wall. And ko Ura ended up painting the patch, luckily we just redid the bathroom where I cut out the panel and I had some extra paint. This part is not included in the instructions but maybe because it seems everyone needs to fix this installation! So I posted a photo of the valve being recessed, resulting in a perfect fit. I went through this nightmare because my wife loved the look of this dress up kit. And we couldn't find one we liked better, so we had to make this one work. And well you know. happy wife happy life!
