Five months ago I had to switch from a desktop PC to a laptop. I bought an HP 17.3 laptop from Revain. One of the first things I uploaded was a wonderful (and free) audio management program called Audacity. Recently I wanted to use a program to record sound playing on a laptop. On a desktop it was easy - just connect a 3.5mm male-to-male cable to the audio output and audio inputs. But the laptop has an audio port that works both ways, but not both at the same time. Some research suggested a USB sound card adapter which led me to this one. After some experimentation, I found that this little gem, plugged into a USB port and running a cable between the input and output ports, does the job. Audacity must be installed on: Windows WASAP-Microphone-2(Stereo Recording)-Speakers (2-Shared USB). I pressed the red record button, turned on the sound source, and the recording did. All for ten dollars. i can't win
