I don't think there is an accidental error when entering the code for the lock. First turn the slot 90', then turn 4 dials to select the code word (two letters at a time on the dial will be displayed before going to the selection slot), after entering the code correctly, turn the slot 90' set back code. The slot cannot be moved accidentally because it needs to be pressed with a paper clip, small screwdriver, etc. when turning it. Press and hold the button, insert the lock into the Kensington slot on the computer, release the button, and then arrange the code letters randomly. The cord is coiled and stretches from 3 inches to 6 feet. Remove the lock from the computer by moving the code letters into place while holding the button and remove the lock. My lock is solid, neither on the labeled dial nor on the clip that secures it to the computer. I bought the padlock so I could use my laptop at the stand and not worry about someone walking away with the computer while I was talking to the customer. I will not rely on this type of lock if I need to move away from the computer as the wire cutters will most likely detach it from the cord. I placed my order on Thursday and received the item on Monday.
