The part dyed in web color is thicker in this area, which is normal as it is held securely around the neck with an extra strap. Head because it goes through the ears to the back of the head and you tie it so it doesn't slip off but I have to tie mine looser because I have a sensitive head and it hurts a little after wearing it for a while time when you tie it tight. Also, it's beautiful and I like a very long piece.
