I have a 10 gallon skimmer in the tank. Skimmat production in just 2 days of operation with fairly clean water and low bioburden so I'd say it's working well! Also very quiet. The proportion in the tank is not much larger than that of the heater. I have a rimmed tank and the mount is only designed for rimless so I had to improvise a bit. It sits on the edge with a set screw and I attached a suction cup to the bottom of the heater. You can buy suction cups with a mounting hole, they will most likely fit. There is a hole for an external collection tank. I've found that I only have to use the air regulator to adjust, once it's in place I don't have to adjust the height. Use a Whisper 10 pump and don't even end it (pump and skimmer have control valves). Grab some extra airstones and also learn how to clean them by soaking them in vinegar etc.
