I haven't cross stitched in about 25 years. I got this because I wanted to de-stress after work, which would be more productive than just watching Netflix. I finished one of the four panels. Here are my pros and cons. CONS: - No instructions! Goods from China, instructions in Chinese. The limited amount of information in English was so confusing that it took me quite a long time to google before I could get started. (To save others time, this project is done on 11CT fabric. They recommend 3 strands embroidery floss for full stitches and 2 strands for backstitches.) - The color coding on the fabric is terrible at first. In addition to color-coding the stitches themselves, there are keys, grid lines, and random Chinese characters. The colors are so vibrant that I was initially concerned that the finished product would stain. After reading reviews of similar products, I learned that the color coding is water soluble. I soaked the finished sheet in cold water with a small amount of Eucalan for about 10 minutes. All the color coding came out and not a single embroidery thread ran out. ADVANTAGES: - Color coding is mostly easy to use, except for the "counted" part of the counted cross stitch. Some panels have two of the same color, but there is also a paper pattern to help with any color code that isn't clear on the fabric. - The design is complex enough, to be interesting, but not so complex that it requires full attention. - There was a lot of thread for embroidery in the set. I had leftovers of each color. If you run out of colour, the paper sample shows the DMC code for all colours.- Needles included.- All edges of the fabric have been serged to avoid tangling. while I was working. The grid lines were helpful for matching the fabric to the paper design when I needed to reference it. Again, no actual calculations! Overall I'm very happy with how the first panel turned out and I enjoyed completing it. I would give this five stars if there were more complete instructions in English, specifically how to remove the color coding at the end. - There was a lot of floss in the kit.
