I've been a fan of cast iron skillets for years but have never owned a bacon maker before. what was i thinking This unit is amazing! It comes pre-seasoned but I had a few thin spots so I seasoned it with a very thin coat of flaxseed oil. handle removed. In the oven for 90 minutes at 450. Repeat. Perfect. I can't believe how well this works for any type of meat. And it greatly reduces spatter. It fits perfectly with all three of my standard #8 cast iron skillets, flush with the bottom with a tiny squirt gap. Round pan - round press. Robust construction. heavy press. good pen. Fast delivery. Highly recommended. Update: Still runs like a champ. After use I wash with hot water, wipe as needed and dry on the stovetop - on low heat until all the water has evaporated. No rust spots. Bonus - Fits perfectly with all of my standard #8 pans and my new 9.5" square Lodge pan (pictured). People with rust don't seem to follow basic cast iron care.
