Really nice jacket. The leather is quite heavy and should offer good protection in case something goes wrong. I disagree with some of the other reviews that said to go up a size. I followed that advice and it was too big. I have the XL and had to stick with the large. Ultimately, XL suits me as it's still pretty chilly outside and the zipped blazer underneath keeps things comfortable. About people's complaints about the skin and its stiffness. There are hundreds of skin care products that will soften your skin. I have used the saddle soap/conditioner several times (once a day for 3 days) and the skin is much softer. It will of course wear out over time, but a little lubrication on the front of the elbows will do the trick. The padding feels a bit loose at the elbows and shoulders and this requires a small adjustment when you put the jacket on for the first time. Interestingly, I find that when I wear a blazer underneath, the need for adjustment is much less. I think maybe the jacket is too big for someone and leaves too much room for the pads to move. I have a leather sewing kit at home and can attach the pads with a few stitches. I personally like it and would recommend it to a friend without any problems. I can even choose the second for warmer weather and leave this one for cooler spring and fall temperatures. I'll see how it holds up over the next month or two before taking the plunge. For the price it seems like a winner.
