I've had these pillows for a few months now and still use them at night. Arrived as described, tightly sealed. They started to expand as soon as the package was opened. "Smell" IS. It didn't really bother me, but it wasn't my favorite. It depends on your sensitivity how annoying it can be. I put them in the dryer as instructed and threw the dryer just in case. Not only did this fully expand the pillow (triple) but it also eliminated MOST of the odor. I could still smell it when I tried to sleep that night, but it didn't stop me from sleeping. After about a week I couldn't smell it at all. It took a while to get used to how full these pillows were, but it's a good issue. Instead of two pillows, I only sleep on one. Because it is crushed foam, they will shrink after about 3 weeks. The problem is easily solved by tossing them in the dryer again. I plan to buy another set for the guest room. The fullness also helps make the sheets/pillowcases GREAT!
