So it's a pretty basic device. Attach it to something like a light stand extension and then you can mount the tripod head on another end of it. The problem is with the side screw that is used to hold the part. It's just the main handle that attaches to the screw and that's it. Even if you only tighten it a few times you'll damage whatever you attached it to over time. This could easily be solved if there was a flat piece of metal at the end of the screw giving it more surface area which would prevent these types of screws. Eventually when you need it, get it. Just be careful you don't end up damaging what you're attaching it to.
