My doctor in the footsteps recommended me a new pair of MBTs to relieve severe pain from a severe case of Hallux Rigidus as my old MBT pair has the typical "bloated heel" below which this line suffers . I'm not complaining though, they have served my weary dogs well for many years. These sandals are very lightweight for a brand I love but that doesn't seem to make them the most supportive on the upper and the heel roll step is also more pronounced than some of their other sandals so it can be more difficult to walk in than more clumsy at it, with less height difference between heel and toe. My joint prefers fewer steps before and after surgery. You should be great when my foot is healthy again. So if you are looking for a high support post op shoe I would look at the leather sandal version. * I find that MBT and water do not mix well!
