ONE LEG IS TOO SHORT and a lot of DETAILS JUST KIND NOT TOGETHER I wanted to love this. This is the perfect size for a corner in my kitchen. It arrived today in a box that looked like it had been opened and then taped back together. The first thing I noticed was a lot of scratches on the chrome, chips and missing paint (and some ugly sharp edges), the second thing I noticed was that it wasn't the vivid, really bright red color I wanted was expect. It's a darker red with a slight orange tinge. One leg is shorter than the others. I've seen this in other reviews as well but was hoping it was an issue that had already been resolved with new products and fixed internally. nope When I found out that one leg was shorter (right after the first few parts of the build) I decided to finish the rest of the build, maybe it will be fixed somehow once all the bracing/supports and steps are added. no I'm the person my neighbors go to when they need to pick something up. Instructions and I'm fine. I went through the instructions with a fine toothed comb and did everything exactly as directed. However, it is simply impossible to assemble due to misalignment of the supports and holes. (see photo). Now I'm standing still, because the moment the first step is set up, the second pair of legs just don't move. One of the screw holes doesn't match the screw (it just doesn't fit more than 1/4 of what it's supposed to). The chair is impossible to complete. (That was kind of embarrassing, too, with a shorter leg and prop misaligned.) I should also mention that when I rolled out the seat, I noticed the pillowcase came off at one corner. That was actually the least of the issues with it, but it's worth mentioning. This chair wasted over an hour of my time only to finish it halfway through (due to bad parts). Now I'm afraid I'll have to disassemble and repackage it again to return it. sigh. I really want this chair but I'm not happy with the time wasted and not worried about what will come as a replacement. UPDATE: It took me over half an hour to disassemble and repackage this item. He comes back. I'll keep my fingers crossed that his replacement won't be defective either. This is a really charming chair (but it takes a lot of work to get a functional chair).
