This third party cap fills a gap - I wanted a cap that would turn my bottle into a glass (ie my side). . The original Hydroflask Flip-Top just isn't tight enough. Secondly, when the lid is up, the rubber stopper is right at nose level, meaning it will touch your nose and drink unless you block or dry it out. Again, a simple thing to avoid, but I wish I didn't have to think about it. In this case the good outweighs the bad and I bought two more for my wife and boyfriend. They love it too. We all use it daily.
