Review on πŸ”§ Refurbished Garmin Vivoactive Black: Enhanced Performance and Value by Minas Chase

Refurbished almost like new

I am very happy with my vivoactive. First I received a refurbished watch and it works just as well as if it were new out of the box. So any complaints I have about the watch also apply to the full version. I have very small wrists so I was concerned that the watch was too bulky. I've had this problem with GPS watches in the past. But the vivoactive is actually very light and doesn't feel too big on my wrist. The watch works exactly as advertised... It's basically a GPS watch with some smartwatch capabilities. Step tracking seems pretty accurate compared to my iPhone. Notifications work well, but you can't reply to text messages or take calls. It doesn't bother me because I wanted a standalone GPS watch and none of the GPS watches offer full smartwatch integration. One downside is that the vivoactive music controls on the iPhone only control iTunes, not Spotify or any other app. What I didn't like about the watch was the bracelet. The standard band is made of thicker rubber rather than soft silicone. Luckily, this is easily fixed with inexpensive replacement silicone straps. After replacing them, things got a lot better. Overall I am very happy with the watch and would definitely buy a refurbished one again. The screen is a bit difficult to read in low light conditions, but this is corrected by the backlight, which can be activated via one of the buttons. The functions aren't as intuitive as, say, an Apple Watch, but once you get used to what the buttons do, it's pretty easy to use. The Garmin Connect app that connects the watch to the smartphone has very poor reviews in the Apple App Store, but I found it worked very well.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • weak
