Review on Eheim Jager Aquarium Thermostat Heater: Optimal Temperature Control for Your Aquatic Environment by Rita Lenora

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great first impressions. It has stable, even heating and easy-to-read controls.

I've been trying to decide between this heater and the Aqueon 06105 Pro Heaters 50W Aquarium Immersion Heater for a long time. Finally, I posted a question here and on the Aqueon product page asking reviewers what they would choose "today" (now late October 2015). Overall, the loudest response was to choose Eheim. Both Eheim and Aqueon have very attractive stats. One thing I thought about was that this heater comes with a 3 year warranty while the Aqueon comes with a lifetime warranty. Also, this heater is made of glass, not Aqueon aluminum. Regardless, the Eheim seemed to perform best when it comes to consistent temperature control and easy access and easy reading of the thermostat controls. This heater is preset to 80 degrees. After some initial adjustments, I found that my 10 gallon tank was holding 80 degrees and the thermostat was set at 75. The weather is a bit warm at the moment so I may need to adjust the thermostat if the temperatures get a lot colder. Keep in mind that this 50W heater is approximately 9" long. This is way longer than any 50w aquarium heater I have used. I really like that I can easily see the numbers on the thermostat dial. Because the heater is so high, the thermostat control is very close to the top of my tank. All of this makes it very easy to set the thermostat without endless fiddling or, even worse, having to remove the heater from the aquarium. When the heater is on, the yellow indicator is easy to see. The two suction cups that attach the radiant heater to the wall are very effective. So far I am very satisfied with this product. I'll update this review over time so you know how things are going. In the meantime, I'll post a few photos of my first experiences. Hmm I don't know what happened to Revain, a few copies of my photos keep popping up even though I delete them.
