I bought my husband a Garmin 1300 for Christmas. We've been using it for 2 weeks now and so far so good. It turns it on even if it's just cruising around town, which is really helpful for showing upcoming trips and allows you to zoom in and out to see the area we're driving through. He found that programming navigation around a city is good, but can give us an alternative route that just doesn't make sense. However, I'm sure it will be necessary if we try to get into areas that we don't know at all. Finding POIs is easy. Sending custom addresses from Google to GPS is very simple. I wish there was a way to create custom routes with multiple navigation points. Also, I like the ability to upload custom POIs with user photos, for example for a sightseeing tour. Our unit had lifetime cards which is a big plus for us. There are so many new roads popping up everywhere in our city, otherwise GPS would quickly become obsolete without GPS. Options like auto swap are nice but useless. We are still testing the EcoRoute features. This summer we plan to visit family in Europe and rent a car. I am planning to buy an SD car with European maps so we can get around. This will be of great help.
