Review on Teac LP-R550USBB CD Recorder With Cassette Turntable Black LPR550USBB by Mike Quade

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm finally digitizing all my old LPs & cassettes. This is perfect

I bought this in 2019, but only used it a little bit in the first month or so. I like to wait longer before reviewing a fairly expensive electronic item.Work & COVID kept me overseas for 18 months in 2020 - mid 2021.Now I'm back home and finally making time to digitize many if my old LPs & cassettes. This has been a great product. The sound quality has been better than expected. (My old stereo had 30 inch high floor speakers. I wasn't sure these small built-in speakers in the unit would sound good, but they do!)The manual is clear and I quickly got the hang of digitizing my LPs, 45s, and cassettes to CD (and then burning them onto my laptop). [I've not tried digitizing directly to my laptop as I want the CD hard copy in case my music library on my laptop were ever to be erased or inaccessible.]About the only thing I'm not a fan of is how the tape player portion is designed. There's no eject button, and inserting or removing a cassette is slightly awkward. But that's really a minor gripe.I appreciate that this allows for either automatic or manual track division. I most often use manual. It's nice that this can be done with the remote control.Anyway, this has been a great product, not only for my digitizing project, but also just as a replacement for my old (30+ years!) broken stereo / turntable / cassette system. I'm enjoying all my old music againWould definitely recommend this to others.

Pros
  • Cassette player with high normal tape positions
Cons
  • The device is not very durable and may need to be replaced after a few years of use
