I bought this unit hoping to add storage to a Qnap NAS. I took 3 x 5TB drives from a previous RAID and after repartitioning put them in an enclosure and reset the RAID. All I got were beeps. Without the supplied manual, I found the manual on the Silverstone website. Nothing about horns. After replacing 5 different (used) 3TB and 5TB drives I thought it might be the NAS. So I pulled the device out of the rack and connected the USB cable to one of my computers. Regardless of the combination of drives 1, 2, 4, I couldn't get any of the RAID settings to work. However, the beeps worked well. When I removed the drives and put them into an external USB enclosure connected to the same PC, each drive worked fine. All I can say is that the Silverstone device can't handle it. He goes back to Revane.
