Maybe 10% down, tops! Trace down, mostly filler!

One star earned because the stripes are nice as is the silky gold piping along the perimeter. However, this China manufactured comforter reminds me of their cardboard filled "meatballs" that were on the news awhile ago. This product ought NOT be called "Puredown." Instead it ought to be called "Tracedown." There is only a minuscule amount in the product. It is at LEAST 90% alternative (filler). Another reviewer noted that the tag on the actual product lists a smaller amount of down than ebay notes but that doesn't even matter because neither are correct. I should have taken heed and you should too. One might say, what do you expect at this price? Well, I'm down schooled. For years I've gotten true down filled comforters at places like TJMaxx, Tuesday Morning, and Marshall's for a similar price to this but they were actually majority down comforters. You can put your hand into the bag and feel this in store and this will be the only way I buy my down comforters from now on. You can educate yourself by doing the same- feel the alternative filled ones then feel the down ones. The reviewer who wrote that a dry cleaner commented that it was akin to a $300 comforter was what suckered me. In retrospect I realize the cleaner probably wanted to make their customer feel like it was worth paying so much to clean what is in reality worth maybe $60. Fair warning.

Pros
  • Feather down filling provides excellent insulation to keep you warm at night
Cons
  • The comforter may not fit in standard washing machines
