So I absolutely cannot understand how amazing these lights are. I've bought so many of these cheap AA batteries in the past and ended up paying a fortune for the batteries. Not with this ONE there are no more batteries because it is rechargeable and the fact that it is magnetic makes it very practical. Hooray. It really responds to movement. I have one in my closet that I use as a pantry, it turns on every time the door is opened and turns off automatically even if my kid leaves the doors open. I have one in the bathroom mounted under the cabinet above the toilet because who likes being blinded by an overhead light in the middle of the night? Third, I didn't use tape because I just taped it to the metal ceiling in a fume hood in a dark hallway where there are no outlets, it picks up door movement from about 4 feet. They survived as my son caught them to use as a flashlight and dropped them once or twice. It's been a few weeks with them and I've only charged them once. I think it will depend on how active your family is. I can already think of a few other places where I would like to install these lights.
