I think I was spoiled for scanning 35mm images with the Minolta Dimage 5400 scanner which not only scans film but also applies autofocus to the final scan . This device, which I bought specifically to scan medium format images, does not. I think someone would be ridiculed by comparing this device to a device that costs four times the price, but I think it's fair that any potential buyer should be aware of that. It scans negatives, but the resulting image is far from "high quality" and should be reserved, in my opinion, for negatives that don't require a final digital copy. To salvage family photos with no real artistic value, the digital images he creates serve the intended purpose, but printing of these images may be limited due to poor file quality and reduced sharpness. If you just want to keep your happy snaps of family and friends, the device is a relatively useful device.
