The Kodak Scanza arrived well packaged and in an undamaged box so I didn't expect any problems. I scanned some old 35mm slides and soon found that the method used to capture mounted slides was virtually useless. You can try disassembling the plastic tray which in turn goes into the scanner (one up) or you can try inserting them from the end of the installed tray to minimize tampering. So far I have not been able to find a 35mm slide/negative scanner that is affordable and produces fast, high quality scans. The ones you can still find that do high-quality scans are expensive ($6,500 for the Nikon 8000), have lame software, and more importantly, scans take a few minutes.
