Took about a week or two. Spring is in the south, or I would like to say that summer is already beginning here. Spring is a random few days between cold days, then we move on to hot and humid. So far this cooler is great. The quality is excellent, very durable and well built. I've always bought $40 coolers from smilemart or other places. Sitting in the back of a truck in the southern heat gives you 20 pounds of ice in the morning and a good pool of water to wash in by the afternoon. The drinks would still be cool, but another trip to the ice bank was obvious the next morning. So far I've been able to fill it with 20# ice cream and refill it after about 3 days. Leave him for the weekend and add 10# and then he got back in the truck for another 4 days when I grabbed some free ice from the customer's ice machine at his store. I think it keeps the ice cream as it says on the outside of the cooler for seven days. I don't think there will be much ice in it and I don't know how cold the drinks will be. I've always been skeptical of these high-end coolers, but this year I thought the store might be able to afford one. So far the plus is the simple fact that I don't have to stop on the ice every day. First, the daily cost of ice during the summer labor months, which here in the South typically lasts from late April to late September or October. Well I can already see that if this cooler reduces ice reloads to once every three to four days the money will be in the state coffers as taxes on my income lol! The cooler size I have is 30 liters. It's quite large from the outside, but the insulation comes at a cost. I prefer Fiji water, it just tastes great and easily holds two days of water and a couple of cokes or juice drinks with 20lbs of ice. I bought Pelican instead of others because I have other Pelican products that I am very happy with. The Pelican is made in the USA, another plus. Now I can't tell if it's "with global components" or not, but I'm hoping for everything in the US. I purposely didn't test the cooler because it's almost $300 and I just can't get the money trees to grow. The hinges and pads on the lid feel and look really sturdy. Will they survive a fall from a pickup truck bed? I would hope so, but if I didn't buy another cooler to use as a business expense to keep a little extra cash out of the government's greedy hands, it wouldn't hurt my feelings. The seal around the lid looks like a high quality seal and when you snap the lid open it is firm but not obtrusive. The only downside of a high-end cooler is thieves. I used to have a styrofoam cooler stolen from my truck. A $3 gas cooler at a gas station, so the twinkle in thieves' eyes when they see a high-end cooler is obvious. I would recommend this cooler for the economy aspect and Pelican quality. It will literally save me enough money this summer to pay for itself.
