I may have a faulty heater, but this heater gets so hot my very short haired dog pants out of bed. He can lie in front of the fireplace and not breathe. I had it in my pillow so it didn't come into direct contact with the dog. Then I placed him on the bottom of the pillow with a pad between him and the dog. I was starting to feel something hot so I checked and the smell was coming from the dog bed. The pillow was very hot. I've had pet heaters before and none have been this hot. This heater is dangerous and I'm sending it back.
