Review on 🚴 Allen Sports Premier Locking Tray Rack: The Ultimate Secure Bicycle Carrier by Sam Davenport

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice rack but a bit overpriced

The rack is very well designed with innovative built in locking features to secure both the rack to the hitch and the bike to the rack. A few cons for me are as follows; The red straps that go around the front and rear wheels are stiff and a lot longer than they need to be - even for my 29 x 2.6 wheels/tires. I haven't found a good way to remove the straps from the tray so I can drop the bike in place. You almost need a third hand. Difficult to remove laterally due to the size and rigidity of the material. Also, the trunk doesn't go down far enough to open the tailgate of my Ford Escape. Overall, I'm still happy with this purchase considering Thule is charging insane prices for a similar stand. Shame on you Thule! (and yakima, saris, etc.) Edit: I found that the straps can be rotated up and down a full 180 degrees and inserted into the buckle from below so they don't get in the way when loading the bike rack. I towed my Specialized Fuse Comp 29, a relatively heavy hardtail MTN bike, with no problems. It's worth nothing; no tools are required to attach to the hitch receiver and it doesn't rattle when tightened (by hand!), folds away when not in use, light weight and good fit/finish. It would be easy to get a 5 star product if the price dropped to 175.
