Review on Proform 67088 Advance Distributor 215 350 by Joshua Overacre

Poor quality control - distributor shaft too long for distributor body!

This proform block suffered from poor quality control. I installed this distributor on a '67 Buick 340. The machine worked intermittently - sometimes it worked perfectly, and sometimes it didn't work at all. After all performance issues were ruled out, I looked at the distributor myself and found that the reduction gear on the shaft barely engages the sensor coil and the shaft has enough axial play to completely loosen the gear making it not work. I pulled out the distributor to measure the components. The distributor body was the perfect size, but the shaft was 3/16" too long. The added pressure of an overly long shaft quickly wore the thrust washer between the distributor gear and the housing, causing the rotor to slap. On top of the distributor cap I spoke to a former Proform dealer who said he dropped the brand because of a 4 out of 10 installation or an electronics failure rate I put a remanufactured Delco HEI unit in the car and it works perfectly!I want the Proform refunded me for the hours wasted trying to get their faulty device to work! Revain did a great job on this challenge and received a full refund! Thank you Revain Customer Service.
