Poor quality control - distributor shaft too long for distributor body!

This proform block suffered from poor quality control. I installed this distributor on a '67 Buick 340. The machine worked intermittently - sometimes it worked perfectly, and sometimes it didn't work at all. After all performance issues were ruled out, I looked at the distributor myself and found that the reduction gear on the shaft barely engages the sensor coil and the shaft has enough axial play to completely loosen the gear making it not work.
