I love this instrument! Bought last spring but not used much yet. I just cooked 6 pounds of potatoes for a large holiday gratin and it worked. I like the solid stainless steel construction. Easy to wash and clean. The fractional inch setting is precise and flexible. I'm not normally an oxo fan, but after that I might become one. I read reviews on here that some people didn't like the food holder but I thought it was great with potatoes. It's the right size so it won't get lost. And what about those last few veggies you can't get through? That's every mandolin's problem. If that bothers you that much, try getting a cutting head for your Cuisinart. oh no wait, they often have leftovers that don't sound good. So just get over it and compost those little leftovers.
