Review on Bosch BS6412 24M 2 Inch 24TPI Bandsaw by Rick Rogers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Compare the price to the durability and it's hard to beat.

Let's be realistic. Band saws for metal are consumables. Anyone who uses such a band saw will quickly get used to always having a spare band at hand, because over time they become dull and have to be replaced, or the saw blade suddenly jams and breaks. I'm not the type of person who has unrealistic expectations of finding a magic saw that will last ten years. I will not arbitrarily determine how long these blades will last. The type of metal you are cutting, the alloy of the metal, and your saw's setting (speed, pressure, etc.) are too important for my experience to compare to yours. I do very repetitive work with my bandsaw and have used different blades, so instead I'm going to talk about how durable this blade is compared to others at the exact same cutting setting. These canvases are great value, NOT made in China (usually the packages I receive say they are made in the UK) and for the price they are very good. Bosch is notorious for not putting his name on crappy things and I don't see this as an exception to that rule. This blade was $12 when I bought it and while there are other $25 blades that last longer, they don't last twice as long. So my impression is that the durability to price ratio is much better than more expensive blades. The point is that if a blade costs twice as much but doesn't last twice as long, then it will cost less than cheaper blades. These are the only blades I buy now.

Pros
  • Made from high quality steel
Cons
  • Some bugs
