When I first received this product I was a bit confused. Admittedly, I usually only have experience with home audio for listening purposes and have never done any mixing or anything like that. When this amp arrived I pulled it out and assumed it was just a preamp as there were no speaker jacks. After a bit of research, I found that the RCA outputs are actually active outputs. You use the included RCA to bare cables to power your speakers. You CANNOT use the RCA connectors as the main RCA output for powered speakers or other devices. It should only be used to drive passive speakers. Honestly I've never seen this before, but it works well. I hooked up the amp to a couple of small passive RBH speakers and cranked them up to a good volume without clipping. The noise level is probably average in both the amp and headphone amp range. One complaint is the lack of entrances. The unit has a phono input (which is unusual for such a small amp) and a 3.5mm input. There are no standard RCA inputs. However, a simple 3.5mm RCA cable will do.
