I've been using ceramic heaters for about a month. So far they appear to be reliable, effective and safe. My pets move to and from the warming post at will based on what is comfortable for them. I plan to buy more for the rest of my cells. If they last longer than incandescent bulbs and never bust like incandescent bulbs in a cage, I'll make the switch permanent. (Added) My first emitter lasted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 18 months - a huge improvement over incandescent bulbs! One day it just stopped heating. There were no temperature fluctuations or failures. I replaced it with a new emitter of the same type.
