The first Osprey product to disappoint me

I had high hopes for this trendy backpack. I've been using mountain biking hydration packs for a long time (20+ years) and wanted to try something different. After hearing about the benefits of taking the weight off your shoulders and lowering your center of gravity, I thought this would be ideal. I've been very happy with my other Osprey packs and luggage so this is a rare failure. The good news is that it has enough space for water, groceries, tools, hose, wallet, keys and phone. With those items and a full 1.5 liters of water, he weighed 6 pounds, which is pretty light. However, the backpack did not sit flat on my back as it inflated like a balloon. He didn't sit comfortably flat on my back until I had probably drunk 1/3 of the water. So it might work better if you start with less water on board. Another big issue I had was with the hose and magnet. The magnet must be much stronger because the hose kept popping out as I went through the specs. I wouldn't even notice until the trail flattened out and I felt it touch my leg. I found the tube hanging precariously from my rear wheel. Also, compared to a backpack where I could instantly release the hose when needed, I had unsteady moments trying to reattach the hose to the magnetic clip while dodging rocks and roots. I think it's only a matter of time before the bite valve is destroyed by my impeller because the hose unexpectedly came loose or I didn't have enough time to reconnect the hose and had to drop it. Another complaint that might be related to the waist pack instead of a backpack or because of the bite valve design, I had to suck hard on the bite valve to get a decent drink quickly. I'm used to just biting, and the pressure of the water will ensure drinking. It only takes a fraction of a second longer than my trusty backpack, but it's annoying when I'm panting, especially on difficult climbs.
