I've read (or rather misinterpreted) reviews that said these things have resumed after a power outage. Unfortunately it isn't. They turn off completely when power is restored. In my case, I was able to connect them to the battery side of my UPS, but I would imagine that would be an impediment for many people. There's *no* reason to have a "digital" cruise control, especially if it renders the thing ineffective after a big event. As a couple of fans, this is a good unit. The shock absorbers work well, I have no other complaints. I can even rip the cords to convert it to permanent status. I assume he's just switching resistors in the control box.
