Although the bags look and feel like plastic trash bags, they are actually compostable (and have "I'm not plastic!" on the side. I cut off a piece and threw it put it away in my electric composter for a week then pulled out the fragment it was clearly degraded and falling apart however I'm not sure what the real use of this is as the contents of the bag will likely not be compostable , but I suppose every little thing helps, seems similar, although I did notice a note on the box advising that they are to be used within six months of purchase, presumably because they would start on their own to deteriorate.
