The card was not working on my Gigabyte X399 Designare Threadripper motherboard. It is PCIe-3 however, if you read Startech website this serial card is ONLY compatible with PCIe-1a. Gigabyte indicated somewhere (I can't remember where) that they would no longer support the PCIe-1 format for one reason or another, I don't remember. -16) I installed it in an older gigabyte system with a PCIe-2, X-16 slot. This worked great and I transferred data for about 6 hours with no problems. This is actually a Gigabyte issue, not a Startech issue as the PCIe standards say it's backwards compatible. But Startech needs to update its advertising and warn customers to check their system's compatibility.
