Probably my fault but the tip was pushed into the body of the pen when unpacked and there is no way to pull it out. I then read in the Dell User Self Support Forum that the tip of the pen can be unscrewed (left-hand thread). I could move. I tried to lay the case with soft rubber pliers and ended up crimping the medal. Further web research shows that springs often break or wear out. It surprises me that Dell would charge $90 for something that would fail fairly easily. I also have an HP Specter for comparison - a few years ago. The HP pen is free! More importantly, the pen works great! The tip doesn't break. The pen does not wear out. Tim
