Review on KUBEY Hippocam KU166 Fixed Blade Utility Knife Hand Tool 2.36" Tanto D2 Blade With Snap Faster Kydex For Outdoor Hiking Camping And Everyday Carry (Jade) by Suhas Carney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sheath really hooks into your belt while grip and blade design cinches into your hand

Having carried fixed blades made of high end steel and by well known knife designers, I would still trust my life to the Kubey Hippocampi as a defensive and possibly utility tool. Nothing particularly stands out about this knife but everything about this knife design is done well. The clip on the sheath really hooks and bites into your belt, and it seems to require just the right amount of force to draw in that you would not have any worries of it accidentally slipping out. You also hear and feel an audible click when you re-sheath the blade, which I personally like. The finger hole is more than large enough for pretty much any hand size, yet the grip is perfect for someone with smaller hands like me. Once your fingers enclose around the G10 grip and got a finger through the finger hole, you know knife is not going anywhere involuntarily. I carry this knife on my left side and draw in a reverse grip, I cannot speak on it's effectiveness as an everyday utility type of tool as I would use another knife for such tasks. The design of the Hippocampi is nothing new and there are similar higher end designs out there (still waiting on the newest Spyderco Swick), but for the price you get more than your money's worth.
