ANOTHER UPDATE: NOW BOTH RADIOS WILL NOT SWITCH OFF. MUST REMOVE BATTERY TO TURN IT OFF. ONE YEAR UPDATE: The range seems to have decreased. A handset now won't turn off with the button, so I have to remove the battery to turn it off. NOW DISAPPOINTED. Very nice pair of radios My wife and I drive the van and SUV to the campsite and we use them on the way and find the van at camp and back at camp - so much better than hand signals or shouts! Bought these to replace a Midlands set that failed after just a year. Love the fact that you can just use AA batteries when needed, and LOVE the constant on-screen battery level indicator. Like most electronics these days it's overly complicated with features I'll probably never use, but I figured out how to switch to a private frequency to avoid interference from other radio users. Each radio has a micro USB port so it can be charged without a charging station. The charging cradle is also USB and does not come with a power adapter so it needs to be plugged into a USB outlet. The menu was a bit tricky to navigate, but I finally figured out how to disable vibration when receiving a transmission. Lots of features I would use for hunting (headphone jacks etc) but not for buying a radio. One star deduction only because of the menu and the lack of a power supply.
