As much as I didn't want another adapter/splitter in my already crowded component shelf, this is definitely preferable to constantly unplugging and plugging optical audio cords when I'm changing devices. As far as I can tell this device doesn't compromise sound quality at all; it's like it isn't even there.I like that it comes with a remote in addition to having an on-device cycling button. I adhered a piece of velcro to the back of the remote and stuck it on the leg of my coffee table so it's always there when I need it.Only downside is the green LED light on the device is CRAZY bright, making it distracting if your component shelf in your entertainment setup is exposed. I put a little back piece of electrical tape over it to hide the light and this solves the issue for me without interfering with the remote control's connectivity.
