This camera ticks all the boxes of the description and more. If you are searching and shopping for your first DSLR, stop now and buy this camera. Thought of waiting for 520 but the only new features I noticed on mfg. The site had "redesigned controls for people with certain types of color blindness" and the ability to remotely control flashes, neither of which I need. The photos I've taken with this camera over the past few weeks have more than justified the cost and I'm glad I didn't miss out on these photo opportunities as I continued shopping and comparing cameras. The 510 takes amazing photos out of the box when set to Auto, and manual shots can be taken with separate features like just aperture. Setting can be controlled manually while focus and ISO are automatically adjusted, or exposure can be controlled manually while aperture is automatically adjusted. Working with just one variable at a time makes learning to shoot with manual settings fun and easy. Standard format used by most digital cameras. No need to worry about odd aspect ratio footage. There are more than enough kit lenses and the 150mm lens is great for wildlife photography. With the image stabilization function, telephoto shots of the moon that clearly show craters can be taken without a tripod. Astrophotographers will love the ability to leave the shutter open for 60 seconds or up to 8 minutes with the optional remote control. I have nothing negative to say about this camera. I suggest buying a starter filter set like this Hoya 58mm Introductory Filter Set, UV, Circular Polarizer, 81A and filter bag, or at least a V/V filter for each lens, if only to protect it.
