I've been using this particular model of presentation console for quite some time - at least 8 years more or less. I've tried many types/models but I'm still sticking with this one for a couple of very important reasons (I've listed them in the Pros section below). I confess that these reasons are vital to me and the way I use this device. I'm a high school social sciences teacher who uses this not only to navigate slides/screens in presentations, but also in alternate mode. I also use it as a cursor for navigating the screen and selecting buttons (like Enter, Scroll Up/Down). , returns, etc.) The latter feature is a must for me personally. Still, it has one major flaw that caused me to have to buy a new device every 4-8 months and it really annoyed me. So if I could find a pointer that does exactly what this one does, I would switch. I've tried 6 other models here and none of them have all the features I need in a class. PROS: * A laser pointer that has a bright red, eye-catching look despite other opinions. (The key is to use fresh AAA batteries - forget Duracell; they suck. Use Energizer's best AAA batteries.) * The left/right navigation is very easy to use and they are located left/ to the right of the pointer button. * Mode switch - I can use it to switch from presentation mode to keyboard mode quickly and easily, so to speak; That means I can instantly move a switch and then use the on-screen cursor to scroll up/down a page of a website, close a tab or browser, open a tab or browser, press Enter (or any other button for that matter). , and more . This saves me from having to return to my desktop to do anything.* Memory department. for a USB key that plugs into a USB port so it can be controlled remotely. * Good grip - the bottom and sides are light gray, which are also not flat; They tend to have a more jagged or wavy texture to allow the holder to hold well and not dangle this thing in your hand. * The remote control function works in the whole room (I don't know if this works in a large ballroom or an auditorium size hall.) * Mostly plug and play. I don't know why people had so many problems with drivers and things like that. I've never had a problem with it, even after buying a replacement for it. CONS: * It's definitely not cheap. The cost is around $53 with taxes depending on if it ever sells. *Very prone to damage and I'm not just talking about cosmetics (see Bought and used for years. Each time it ended up with a broken tailgate. Concretely and totally inexplicably it wouldn't close. Not at all. None of what I've tried, couldn't solve the problem. It's very strange.Of course that means I have to tape the door, then when I use it I tape it,take out the USB,close the door again(leave only partially) etc. What a bummer THAT is!I had techies look at it, my colleague who is an engineering genius looked at it but all to no avail We could understand why this is happening.Whatever the reason, it means that I need to buy another replacement and it's starting to add up financially.
