Review on πŸ”’ Erickson 09160 Wheel Chock Kit with Tie-Downs by Kyle Smernes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It took me a long time to buy these.

so far so good! Installed them on my landscape trailer to tie a Husqvarna PZT-54 Zero Turn. The mower weighs 1100 lbs with fuel and these straps hold tight and tight! I used to use 4 ratchet straps around the corners of the mower, but I could feel the "junk" when driving most of the time. Not to mention the time it takes to tie 4 ribbons instead of 2. It is much faster to protect the mower. The ratchet is what I would call carefree. Snaps into place easily. It's easy to let go, but it's not easy to let go. The straps are effectively sewn onto the E-Track clips so you don't have to worry about threading the strap through anything. Simply snap into the E-rail and tighten. I should have gotten these things years ago and for less than $35. In my opinion this is a fantastic deal, hence they get a solid 5 stars. I ordered a set that comes with 4 wedges and 2 straps. It does NOT come with mounting hardware, so you'll need to pay about $12 extra and take some hex bolts, washers, and locknuts. I think I used 5/16 and everything fit nice and neat. There are six holes for each shoe x four shoes, so you will need 24 screws and locknuts. I decided to use a lock washer and a regular washer under the trailer, so I had 48 washers in total. Depending on the length of your screw, you may need more or less. I think I used 2 1/2" long hex head screws. Overall setup is pretty easy but thanks to my awesome wife running the percussion tool above deck while I kept the wrench below deck. Two people completed it .much easier so I recommend it if you are able.I now have complete confidence in the safety of my mower when traveling between jobs.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • good but not great
