There are so many things I hate about this printer. In no particular order: 1) Epson uses ink chips to trick you into buying their ridiculously expensive ink. 2) Quality is mediocre at best. Nothing compares to any of the Canons I've had (I really miss my MX922.) 3) The user interface is clunky and unfriendly. 4) Back to ink cartridges - you can't really use all the ink in the cartridges. . Instead, a chip on the cartridge counts the pages used and automatically declares the cartridge empty at a certain point, regardless of how much ink is actually left in the cartridge! Of course, this is only to trick you into buying more cartridges at ridiculously high prices. 5) Paper jams are common and many slots need to be opened for cleaning. 6) I never got the printheads to work properly. There have been so many purges and tests it's ridiculous. 7) Back to the ink: If the chip reports that the ink cartridge is empty, you cannot simply cancel the print like most printers. No, you must replace it immediately or it will not print at all! 8) Back to the user interface. Each setting here is more complicated than it should be. For example, on my Mac, the duplex printing feature turns gray on the main print page, forcing you to delve into options to turn it on or off. 9) Network - often the printer seems to shut down its own little world where it can't be found, forcing me to restart the printer. 10) Forget high quality photos. All colors are wrong. 11) Confusing use of two trays. Tray 1 is the most versatile paper size. Tray 2 is for letter paper only. Therefore, it makes sense to leave Tray 1 loaded with photo paper or other alternative paper. Except that the printer repeatedly insists on using Tray 1 as the default. So I should have a plain letter in BOTH subjects. So why two subjects at all? Ah, there is more. But that's enough for now.
