Adding rope isn't that difficult - here's a photo to help

1. First off, no need to cut the rope, just find the ends and tidy yours Item as shown in the first picture .2. Insert one end of the rope into the bottom hole of the assembly, under the gap and through the pulley at the bottom.3. Then thread the end through one of the hooked pulleys and up through the hole in the bottom of the pulley mount and tie it around the screw. I wrapped it twice around the stud and then tied a square knot (make sure you don't tie a slip knot!). Pull the hook knot down to pull the knot to the base of the bracket. A NOTICE. This is done before I put the lift into the supports so the bolt is just loose. When you are about to place the pulley mount into the hanger, simply remove the screw, place the pulley assembly in the hanger mount and reinstall. Bolt. You can thread it through the hole made when you wrap the rope around the bolt. I try to keep my finger on it so it's easier.4. Now take the other end of the rope and insert it into the top hole of the assembly under the gap and through the pulley at the top.5. Then thread the end of the cable through the pulley of the 2nd hook assembly and up to the hole in the bracket and tie that end back around the stud.6. This shows the blocking node in the blocked position. You'll know you're doing everything right when when you pull on the hook assembly and this locking mechanism moves to the position shown, you can't extend the cable all the way to the pulley. You will need to rotate the locking mechanism down as shown in the previous images to allow the rope to loosen and allow the hooks to fall. Once installed, pull the rope toward the center to release the latch and pull the rope outward to lock. Another comment I've seen in the reviews is that the boats hang too low. If you know how to sew, this is an easy fix. Just check the size of the straps needed so they hang how you want them (on the floor of course), then fold the straps and sew on a new loop while you sew on the current ones. If you can't sew, you could probably use epoxy or glue and a clamp and glue the harness together. You can trim off the excess and seal with a flame, but you don't have to. These elevators are very heavy and work great. I have 2 of these (and 3 other brands that work the same - obviously I have a lot of kayaks) and I really like them.

Pros
  • Ceiling mount for a bike lift for ceilings up to 12ft
Cons
  • Hard to tell
