I have a couple of simple dial thermometers for cooking, but I didn't have a digital one. I was intrigued by the additional sensor as it meant I didn't have to use my clumsy grill sensor in my oven. When it arrived I was happy with my product choice. The thermometer probe is long enough to safely measure the temperature of roasts and meat. I love how easy it is to turn on when you pull out the dipstick and turn off when you close it. But the added thermocouple is the beauty of it. It's long enough that you can put it in the oven and put the thermometer on the counter. My oven has an unstable thermostat so an external sensor really helps determine my actual temperatures. I'm somewhere between 5°-30° depending on the set temperature, so that really helps. It's reliable, it does what it's designed to do and it just works. Brilliant! I wish it came with a metal clip to hold the outer probe to the side of the pot when making candy. but one day I will. Otherwise a good product at a great price!
